“King Nate” Takes Home Goalie of the Year

Senior goaltender Nate Kholodenko (Senior, Wayne, NJ) has been named the 2014-2105 MACH Goaltender of the Year. This is the first time in program history that a Rider Bronc has taken home this award.

In what is a fitting end to a four-year career between the pipes, this award does mean a lot ot Kholodenko but he is also looking forward to continued team success to close his Rider career.

“It would mean a lot to be named the best goaltender in the league,” said Kholodenko. “However, I’d rather add a championship instead. A couple of years from now when I reflect on my college hockey experience I’d much rather remember it for the memories of games we won at the most important times rather than individual awards.”

Spoken like a true teammate, Kholodenko continued to pass along the praise to his teammates rather then focus on himself as he reflects back on the success he has had this season.

“Hockey is a team sport, and theres no way I would be nominated for this award if it weren’t for my teammates,” said Kholodenko. “This group of guys are a great support system for me, we’re always battling together. I’m only a mere representation of my team. I also have to give a special shootout to my goalie partner Hags. He is the greatest teammate I’ve ever had. We always keep it loose during practice, have a great time pushing each other, and always there next to me in the locker room during games to talk about what’s happening on the ice. He is one heck of a goaltender and can easily be in the position I am now”

The Goaltender of the Year and the Rider Broncs wills now look forward to their playoff matchup in just a few short hours. The Broncs will face the Penn State Ice Lions for the third time this season in the first round of the MACH playoffs.
