Q – At what age did you start playing hockey and who/what pushed you try and ultimately stick with the game?

A-  I started playing hockey when I was 8 years old but I started to skate when I was around 4 years old. My dad ultimately pushed me to continue playing hockey because he loved the sport and also played. Therefore, when he saw how much fun I had playing he pushed me to keep playing.

Q – Is their one particular play, goal, hit, save, etc…that really stands out over your playing career?

A – One play that really stands out to me in my hockey career is when I was in 8th grade. Since my high school didn’t have a hockey team and my brother is 2 years younger than me we only had one chance to play together and that was when I was in 8th grade and he was in 6th grade. This stood out to me because I scored and it was assisted by my brother, when I saw on the scoresheet that it had both our names next to each other, it was a nice moment.

Q  -Hockey is one of the more “team” based sports. What is the dynamic like to be a part of that atmosphere? (in the locker room, on the bus, practice, etc…)

A – I think that it is a great atmosphere in the locker room and during practices. Being around so many guys that have your back is a great feeling. There is a great bond between all the guys and it is like being a part of a family.

Q – As a freshmen, what is the biggest adjustment to playing on the college level?

A – I think the biggest adjustment in the classroom will be the amount of work and being able to manage my time wisely and get all my work done. I think that the biggest adjustment on the ice will be getting used to the speed of the game at the college level. The biggest thing that contributed to me coming to Rider is the small class size and the sense of community on campus. I knew I wanted to play hockey in college and Rider has a great program so it was an easy decision.

Q – Some hockey players are known to be very superstitious; do you have any superstitions, pre-game during, etc…?

A – One superstition that I have is that I always have to re tape my stick before the games on the weekend and then I won’t re tape my stick until the next weekend. Also when I get on the ice before games I always stretch before I touch a puck.

Q – Favorite Team?

A – New Jersey Devils

Q – Favorite Player?

A – Brian Gionta

Q – Pre-Game Meal?

A – I don’t have a specific pre-game meal as long as I eat a couple of hours before the game.

Q – What type of music, if any, do you listen to before a game?

A –Whatever music that is playing in the locker room is fine with me.

Q – What is the one piece of equipment you are most picky about?

A – I am most picky about my skates. I haven’t changed them since 7th grade and I always tie them a certain way.
